I actually like Golf?!

Chad and I went golfing yesterday. It was my first time. I have always thought golf would be a really boring sport, but I actually ended up really enjoying it. Chad gets to go to a golf club for free because he is an SU Grad student, so we might start golfing a lot more often. Neither one of us are too experienced yet, but I’m doing better than I thought and Chad is getting better really fast. The weather was great and the golf course is really pretty. Without a golf cart (which we never use), it’s actually a lot of walking and pretty good exercise. It’s fun to spend the time together too!

Hill Cumorah Pageant

Two weeks ago we went to the Hill Cumorah Pageant in Palmyra with our friends Dan and Jenny. We went early to volunteer, but when we got there it was a lot different than what we were told. We were all supposed to split up and stand in different places for six hours and make sure no one came into the area that wasn’t supposed to. There was no one in my area period, so I just sat on a chair and texted Chad for a while. It was pretty boring. We ended up having to leave two hours early because my contacts really started to bother me. Chad took good care of me though. He always does. Chad, Dan, Jenny and I left to go to Wal-Mart to get contact solution and a case so I could take my contacts out. On the way to Wal-Mart we stopped at the Sacred Grove and the Joseph Smith Farm. It was really cool. The peace that was in the Sacred Grove was amazing. I know that Joseph Smith really did see Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ there. It was fun to see, but my eyes were killing me, so we didn’t stay long and it wasn’t as enjoyable as it could have been. We’ll have to go back another time when we can spend more time there and do the tour of the Joseph Smith Farm. After Wal-Mart, we went to dinner and then I put my contacts back in. My eyes were feeling better by then, thank goodness, so we went to the temple and walked around. Then we went back to the Pageant. It was really cool. The special effects were great and we all really enjoyed the play.

By the way, I can't get these pictures to go where I want them! We don't have internet so I don't get to mess around on here much. Hopefully one of these days I'll figure out this blogging thing.

Finally, a job!

I finally got a new job. It’s not the SU one. They still haven’t decided on that one! I am now working at Pulmonary Physicians. Right after I accepted the job I also got another job offer to work in a chiropractic office, but the Pulmonary place paid better and I wanted that job more. I have really enjoyed the job so far. I work 8:30 to 5:00, so the hours work really well with Chad’s schedule. It’s nice to be able to spend the evenings together every day. The office is also really close to Syracuse University so Chad and I just go together and park at the office and then he walks to school. The people are all really nice for the most part. There are some big communication problems in the office, but it sounds like it is a lot better than before and they are really working on improving it. I really enjoy working there though. I work at the front desk and check patients in, which is a pretty complicated process in this office. I am learning quickly though and think it will be a fun job. I have also done a lot of filing, mail, and faxes. It is a really busy office, so I stay busy and time goes fast. There are five doctors who work there (on different days because there are also three other offices in the area that they work at), an x-ray technician, 4 nurses, and a lady that does breathing tests. I love working with people in fast paced environments so this job is great. It pays alright, but not what I hope to make with a college degree. The rumor is I am the replacement for the current front desk person, but she doesn’t know it yet. Maybe if that is the case I can ask for a raise after I replace her. We’ll see what happens.

A new adventure

Chad and I finally decided to start our own blog. I've never really been interested in it until recently, but now I am excited about it! Right now, it's definitely a work in progress. Hopefully I will get some pictures on here quickly so it looks more fun. We just moved to Syracuse, New York, about a week and a half ago. Chad is getting his Masters in Public Administration at Syracuse University. It is the #1 school in the nation and I'm so proud of Chad for getting in! It's a great program. So far he is really enjoying it. I've just been busy looking for a job and getting our apartment set up. I've interviewed for one (twice) at SU and taken a basic Microsoft Office test for the job. It's been almost a month since my first interview and they still can't make up their mind on who they want to hire! Hopefully they will pick me soon. :) I've also applied and interviewed for a few more, but the one at SU is the best option by far. So far, we love living in Syracuse. It is so pretty and the weather has been great! We might not like it here so much when Winter comes. Our apartment is great. It's safe (hard to find in Syracuse), spacious, and close to school and church. We moved into an unfurnished apartment without any furniture, but we have been really lucky and have already got lots of free stuff. We found a couch in the dumpster (don't worry, it wasn't really dirty and we shampooed it with our friends special machine and bought a couch cover for it). It looks pretty good now. I also saw a mattress set in someone's yard on the side of the road and asked if they were throwing it away and if we could have it. They ended up giving us the mattress and the bed frame and a pretty nice dresser. The bed is in great shape, but is not the most comfortable. We just bought a mattress topper to fix it. We like our new ward and have made some good friends here already. The problem is, we always go shopping when we are together. It's getting expensive! I guess that's what happens though when you are moving in to a new place. We are excited for this new adventure in our life and look forward to a fun year. There is so much to do around here!
