Summer Utah Trip

One of the fun things we did this summer was our trip to Utah with grandma and grandpa. We went to St. George so Chad could do a Triathlon. He'll blog about that later. On the way to Utah we stopped in Provo to see Brian, Kathy, Brandt, and Kristin. Most of us hiked to the top of Squaw Peek - about 8 miles round trip - it was a steep, challenging, hike. Grandpa, Chad, and I couldn't walk (or more really) for several days after the hike, but we had a lot of fun and the view was great!

After Provo we spent the night at our family cabin. My mom and her brothers and sisters built it with my grandpa when they were growing up. It is a pretty cool cabin and we love going there. We had a lot of fun cooking on the fire, playing games, catching horny toads, and hiking around.

Mason got brave and held the horny toad, but then after a little bit he was done holding it so he threw it. Oops!

After the cabin we headed to my aunt Janeice's house in St. George. We had so much fun there playing games, hiking, spending time with family we hadn't seen in a while, swimming...It was Mason's birthday the weekend we were there so Janeice and her family through him a great party complete with a pinata (filled with balls, fruit snacks, and candy - Mason's favorites). He loved the pinata! The time we got to spend with Janeice and her family was the highlight of our trip. We wish we could see them more often!

Mason's frist time trying to hit a pinata and also first time using a bat. He did pretty well I think!

Hiking at the Red Cliffs

Red Cliffs with Mason and Dante

Mason's birthday brownies. Dante was a great help at blowing out candles and opening presents.

It took Mason and Dante a little while to warm up to each other, but they were great friends by the end. Mason also loved the dog - Crystal.
