Mason loves to put on Chad's camelback, lights, and visor, and run all round pretending he is doing races. He wants to be just like his Dad! This August he got to do more than just pretend - he got to compete in his first kid's triathlon. He was so excited and practiced hard - swimming, biking, and running! He has to run one lap round the kiddie pool, bike .75 miles, and run .5 miles. He even got to set up a transition area. He was so excited! He was a little scared by the time the race actually started though. Luckily, they let parents stay with kids for the whole course. He needed one of us to hold his hand from outside of the kiddie pool while he ran around inside (until the very end), he did great in his transitions, but for some reason on the bike he didn't want to peddle even though he knows how. We ended up pulling his bike for him while he sat on it. lol. He started out running pretty good, but then decided he wanted to stop. It took some encouragement to get him to finish the race. He didn't want to run at all until we saw a squirrel on the course and decided to chase it. lol. Then we just pretended we were seeing more squirrels, played shadow chase...to keep him going. About the last 1/8 mile he got fired up and ran really well and ran right into the finish. Overall he really enjoyed the experience and did great. We are so proud of him! Thanks grandma, Cara, and Ethan for hanging out and cheering for him!
