Summer Fishing

One of our favorite activities this summer was fishing. There is a park near our house where kids 12 and under can do catch and release fishing. We bought Mason a fishing pole and took him quite a bit this summer. All of us really enjoyed it! The first time it took us 2 hours, but then we finally caught a fish and didn't want to stop. We kept going for another half hour and caught 3 more. Mason was excited. They were just little blue gills. It was a really relaxing activity to just sit and enjoy the sunshine together. We found that the best fishing spot was right under the bridge and the best bait ended up being string cheese. The fish would bit it instantly. The only problem was that it fell of the hook easily and quickly.

We also went fishing several different times at a dam near hear with Grandma and Grandpa, Grammie, and Kathy and Brian. That was also a lot of fun. Mason loves to help put the bait on and hold the pole. One time Mason caught a fish, but then cried because it was too little and he had wanted to catch a big fish. He was more excited when he helped catch a big fish later.  It was a great summer activity!

Random pic from this summer - too cute not to put somewhere...
Our favorite fishing spot at the park. Great catch Mason!

Mason is a great helper! He really likes to be involved and helping with everything!

Fishing at the dam

Mason was a little unsure about touching the fish

Uncle Brian and Mason were great fishing partners

Nice catch Kathy!

Mason and Grandpa

Mason loved running back and forth on this dock while the rest of us were fishing. Brian ran with him a lot too!

Mason wanted to have a picnic on the dock so he got some food and wanted to go sit by where Kathy was fishing so she could have a picnic with us too.

Good catch Daddy Chad

More fishing at the park
